I went to Granada for a month in March and it was such an amazing experience. From the first day, I felt really welcomed, and the whole month flew by. It was the perfect mix of learning, exploring, and meeting new people. Granada is a really beautiful city, and for such a small place there is so much history and culture there. I’d definitely go back if I had the chance. Compared to Dublin, Granada felt much more relaxed. We always felt safe there, and loved being able to walk around and take it all in. My favourite spot in Granada was definitely the Alhambra, a historic palace overlooking the city. I think this experience is a great way not just to improve your language skills, but also to see new places and make new friends. The classes were really fun and useful. We learned grammar rules, had conversations in Spanish, did activities, and had weekly tests where we showed what we had learned that week. It really helped improve my Spanish. Our teachers Josemi and Leo really helped me learn and encouraged me to improve my Spanish over the course of the month. They were very patient and made sure we understood everything, while also making every lesson fun. Even if someone didn’t know much Spanish going in, I think they’d still learn a lot. Being surrounded by the language every day made a big difference, and the supportive environment really helps. I really liked the activities, I found most of them enjoyable and I got to see the city a lot more. We had the chance to do an integration activity with local Spanish people our age, who I am still in touch with and practise Spanish with every day over text. Some of the activities contributed to my Spanish learning, but I feel I learned the most in class. Our experience with our host family was great, Isa was so kind to take us in and our experience with Chelo was amazing, she was so lovely and we were glad to be able to practice our Spanish in such supportive environments! It definitely felt 100% safe in our host family. Isa was so great to live with and she introduced us to a lot of her family which made us feel so welcome and also gave us another chance to try and speak more spanish. Sergio and the team were great and easy to deal with. They always made sure we were having a good time. This was my first time being away from home for a month, so it was a new experience but we had the best time! I would definitely recommend the programme to anyone who wants to learn Spanish in a new environment, I definitely learned way more in Granada than I do in class at home. Emma and I had the most amazing experience and we recommend it.
